Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) February 21, 2006 –-

DomainMart, a leading provider of domain-name quantitative valuation and portfolio management services, announced today the launch of a marketplace dedicated to domain name portfolios.

The marketplace creates liquidity and trust for exchanges of domain name portfolios. For a seller, it provides an efficient existing strategy and an opportunity to rebalance portfolios toward an optimum desired return. For a seller, it is a central place to find portfolios and reduce transaction costs by half. DomainMart also facilitates negotiations between buyers and sellers.

“Domain name raiders are awakening to the attractiveness of domain name investments,” says Alex Tajirian, DomainMart CEO.

“Companies initially had a narrow vision of a domain name as a corporate address and an instrument to protect corporate name. Now they are realizing their benefits in creating and directing traffic, product positioning and product differentiation, adds Tajirian.

There are four differences between marketplaces for the exchange of a single versus a portfolio of domain names.

1.    Efficiently managing a marketplace for a portfolio requires additional competencies, namely domain name analytic skills and an understanding of portfolio optimization.

2.    Because exchange motivations are different, buyers need a new set of descriptive characteristics for the portfolios being considered for purchase. The descriptors need to reflect the objectives for a portfolio investor, which minimizes risk for a desired level of return, while for a business, it maximizes quality traffic with the minimum number of domains, at the lowest cost.

3.    Auctions and fixed price listings (such as “buy-now buttons”) are unsuitable exchange mechanisms for domain name portfolios. Moreover, there isn’t yet a natural set of domain name portfolio descriptors to convey portfolio characteristics. To overcome these limitations, we provide analytics and facilitate negotiations to help buying and sellers communicate desired portfolio parameters.

4.    Lower maintenance cost, as a seller’s portfolio tends to be concentrated with a single registrar and owner. Thus, accumulating domains individually is not cost-effective, as a portfolio provides economies of scale, which reduce transaction costs and provides timesaving negotiations.

A listed portfolio must have at least ,000 in annual monetized revenue and must have a monetization track record of at least three months.
